Syslog outputs to vt1 on fresh 7.4


Could somebody tell me how to change it to another vt or stop it? Also if and what I screwed up

I'm assuming you talk about the messages that occasionally appear in the console.

These are generated by klogd. The default log level of console messages can be adjusted to overcome this (see klogd manual page, the -c option).

Using -c 3 will be a safe setting, this way you are only informed of kernel errors (or worse). Don't worry about not seeing the other messages, they will be in the log files

Add this option to the start_daemon /sbin/klogd line in the /etc/rc.d/init.d/sysklogd script (only the start section).

Thanks druuna, that's much better.

It kept bugging me about my cheap usb mouse and was very annoying.
