problems configuring glibc-2.3.4-20040701 for LFS build

Hi everyone!

I am new to Linux from Scratch project. ( but i've been trying out other distros for some time now, mostly slackware). I mean i know what it is and why people would do it, but i've never done it myself. So i decided to try it out and see what i can make out of it.
I 've followed LFS 6.0 book (i know that it is not the latest one, but i got a paper version) and when i got up to the point where i had to configure glibc-2.3.4-20040701 i've encountered my first problem. The problem is that it tells me that i have to configure it outside the $LFS/sources directory ($LFS=/mnt/lfs in my case). But i am not sure "how outside" it has to be. Cause the packages that i compiled and installed before (binutils and gcc-3.4.1), were inside $LFS/sources/pkg_name-build. And they configured, compiled and installed without any problems.
So, can anyone enlighten me on this issue?

Appriciate in advance.

This was a bit confusing to me at first. Create your 'glibc-build' directory in $LFS/sources. You are expected to have untarred the file in $LFS/sources and to have 'cd'ed to the untarred directory. So, when you execute 'mkdir ../glibc-build' you will actually be creating the 'outside build' directory in $LFS/sources. Hope this helps.
