Problem with locales in chapter 7.8

hi all

I have successfully completed till 7.7 of LFS 6.3 e-book...Now I am struck up at the "Bash Shell Startup files(7.8)"....
I am using UK based English keyboard ....

Code:
can any one tell me the <locale name> to be used for this...?
anyways i have used the default one(en_GB.iso88591) which is given the ebook...I thinks its for us based english keyboard....

Another doubt...

Code:
cat > /etc/profile << "EOF"
# Begin /etc/profile

export LANG=<ll>_<CC>.<charmap><@modifiers>

# End /etc/profile
EOF
Code:
What should be given in place of
<ll> <CC> <charmap> <@modifiers>
i hope charmap can be found based on the locale...But what to replace with in the other terms(ll,cc,@modifiers..)

THANKS IN ADVANCE

ll = Language
CC = country code
charmap = character map

en_GB.iso88591 is English, Great Britain ISO 8859-1 character map. It's not the default, it's just an example. Did you execute locale -a as the instructions indicate? You should choose the locale that makes sense for you and test it just like the book recommends. You're supposed to read the words between the gray boxes too.

You really should learn how to use Google before you tackle (C)LFS. Here's a list of ISO-639 language codes --> ftp://ftp.ilog.fr/pub/Users/haible/utf8/ISO_639. Here's a list of ISO-3166 country codes (use those in the A 2 column) --> ftp://ftp.ilog.fr/pub/Users/haible/utf8/ISO_3166. The modifiers is optional and I've never used it. It adds more information to the locale by setting options. Just leave it alone unless you know what you're doing.

If you're using a UK-based keyboard, then en_GB.iso88591 would be appropriate.
