Package Patches

Hi Everyone

After deciding to go ahead and give LFS a try, I have managed to get to the part where the book tells you to download the patches. Am I correct in assuming that these are simply saved as text files?

I found information on installing them when the time comes, but I am a little confused as to what format these patches are to be saved as.

No extensions are needed but they usually consist of just text, so saving them as just the 'name' off the server is fine.
