lol i just downloaded the lfs livecd so i guess thats not a problem anymore, but i would like to know when i use ndiswrapper. do i just do it sometime during the network part of blfs? TIA

You could do it any time-in chroot, right after you reboot, once you've gone throught BLFS, etc. Just follow the instructions on the ndiswrapper home page.
thx im actually just about to start installing packages in chapter 6 and i had another question:
if i install checkinstall and pkgtools into /tools can i use that as a package management system? i think that would be the easiest thing to do because then you could upgrade and remove things easily. hopefully someone will respond before i go ahead and do it. it takes a while to install on this sempron64.
