LXDE menu does not appear. BLFS 8.2.

I'm still trying to get LXDE up and running. I'm compiling blfs 8.2.
There's nothing displayed when I click the menu icon in the lower
left corner of the screen except a logout option and a menu item
which pops up a box which lets the user type in the name of an application
to run. There are no other menu items. I've compiled and installed
everything in the book for LXDE. Twice. Including as many recommended
as seemed reasonable. I'm open to suggestions as to what might be wrong.
I've noticed that the openbox window manager installed as part of
this mess has its own right-click menu which DOES work so I can edit
that as an alternative menu but I'd like to get the LXDE menu working
if I can get some help figuring it out.

Thanks. The menu is working now. I had desktop-file-utils installed already
and did what you suggested. Unfortunately I monkeyed around with some other stuff
too at the same time. Nothing seemed to work but when I logged out and
logged back in the menu was working so I did something right somehow.
I'll mark this solved.
