LFS - Chapter 6.22 - Shadow - Can't set root password.

Hi,
when i launch "passwd root", i have this output:
Code:
root:/sources# passwd
Changing password for root
Enter the new password (minimum of 5 characters)
Please use a combination of upper and lower case letters and numbers.
Bad password: too short.
Warning: weak password (enter it again to use it anyway).
passwd: password changed.
The problem is that i CAN'T set a password 'cause it appears without any input.
I don't write anything and passwd just finish all himself.
Any suggestion?

Please mark your thread as SOLVED when you have fixed the problem as it then informs other users on the forum that a) there is a solution if they are looking to fix the same problem, b) people don't waste their time reading a through a thread only to find that the solution they was going to post has already been posted. it's just good forum manners.
