KDE not linking with Openssl

Hey Guys,

As you can tell I’m having trouble getting Konqueror to work with OpenSSL. Specifically, I can’t get browse any HTTPS protocol sites. I’ve recompiled kde many times with the flags –with-ssl, –with-ssl-dir=/etc/ssl, –with-ssl-dir=/usr/lib in various combinations. During the .confugure phase of the KDE build it seems to find the OpenSSL Libraries okay, so I’m sort of stumped as to why this doesn’t work.

Oh yeah, when I go to the crypto configuration section of Konqueror, to attempt to set the ssl flags there, it says something like “this module was not linked with ssl” so I can’t set any of those flags. But like I said, during the .configuration phase of the KDE (kdelibs/kdebase) build it reports finding the OpenSSL libraries, so, well . . . I’m stumped.

Has anyone else had any problems with this?

Thanks for all your help.

Bob

edit: Sorry never thought you may not have an rpm based distro. Soory if this does not help.
edit:

What rpms of openssl you have? Run this command and post output.
rpm -qa | grep openssl*

Brian1,

Thank you so much for the reply, but, alas, I do not have an rpm disto. However, since it's long Thanksgiving weekend, I hope to give this problem some time and see if I can fix this. If I find an answer I'll post it here.

Thanks again.

Bob
