I also have my own OS based on LFS, built with pacman. When there's a new version of LFS out I compile everything in chroot and create packages, then I just update my system. (On a different partition, to keep the old version as backup.) I've kept it updated for almost 5 years. This is the only system I use, even if I usually have Xubuntu installed for those rare occasions when I don't know how to make something work, then I can boot it up and see if it works there and see how they do it.
