error with make congure-host

I am a Linux neophyte plodding through LFS version 6 and can't get past the make configure-host command. I get the following:

Configuring in bfd
loading cache ./config.cache
checking for Cygwin environment... no
checking for mingw32 environment... no
configure: error: can only configure for one host and one target at a time
make: *** [configure-bfd] Error 1

I am logged on as root using Suse Enterprise Server 9 (I began the project using REdhat 9 but changed to Suse when I read about the kernel version required). I am using an ASUS P2B-D with 2 P3 350's. Any ideas?

I had this same problem. It turns out that I was missing the a.out. I ended up removing binutils and binutils-build and starting over. Check the configure.log as it will give you more information as to what is causing the error with make configure-host. Also make sure you have flex and bison installed on your host system as these are needed for the build.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check these things out and give it another go.
