DHCP network problem

Ok, actually it's not really a problem, yet. I am to the point in the LFS book where you configure the network (chap 7).

I have DSL and it's configure through DHCP, so my IP changes often. When it asks me my IP what do I put there?

And any further explanation to get me through the networking part of this would be great. Thanks!

It shouldn't be asking for a IP if you have opted to use DHCP for your connection type. So you won't put an IP, you use DHCP to obtain your IP.

I never had an option to 'opt' for DHCP, in chapter 7 I haven't found a choice for that. It's asking me IP questions and such, and says if I want to configure with a network card, I have to give an IP...

Chapter 7 talks about the IP address of your network card on your private network, not on the Internet. Whatever Internet ip address you obtain, it'll override the private IP address.

Check the BLFS book at http://beyond.linuxfromscratch.org on examples on how to setup DHCP.
