Compiled some exes without -static flag. Now what?

Hi,
I just tried lfs for some fun. But unfortunatly I compiled some files with out -static flag. I don't know how this happened. I just followed the instructions in the 3.3 book. But after chroot it said /bin/ls no such file or directory. So I came out ran file $LFS/bin/ls and found it is dynamically linked. Any Idea how it might have happened?. Should I recompile the whole thing?.

Thanks,

You should recompile the packages which weren't compiled with static libraries. Otherwise you won't get much further in the rest of the book. If it was only the fileutils package where you forgot to add the -static then it shouldn't be too much work to redo just that one.

I tried some stunt like putting the gcc just after that. Did not yield expected results. So just tried copying some stuff from existing system. But unfortunatly over ended up with a lot of trouble when it first booted up. There was not much fun though that was the aim!. So just did a rm -rf $LFS and made it all over agin. After every step ran
file $LFS/bin/* | grep -i dynamic and file $LFS/usr/bin | grep -i dynamic
at the end after 6 hrs of work I now have my LFS. But I just feel like laughing now. I one should say If made LFS what did Linus do?
