Exclamation Color scheme when editing files not working for normal users in bash

I followed the guide shown here: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs...s/profile.html

for a normal user putting all the .bash* contents in the home directory - and when I edit say .bashrc its all white text, where if I do the same as root echo is blue, quotes are in yellow, etc. But with a normal user everything is white.

Any ideas?

Nevermind .nanorc was the cause of it - it did not have an include function
