Can't mount root system from sata dique (usb-storage)
Hello Every body,
I am using LFS 6.3, all packages are successfully build.
I have build vmlinux and modules from .config fedora file.
And added new line for my new distrib in grub file configuration.
where loading an initrd, kernel can't detect my sata disq.
My initrd is like this.
insmod usb-storage.
mount -v -t ext4 /dev/sda4 /new_dir don't work.
And just later in console i see sda, sda1,sda2,sda3
Do you have a solution for my probléme.
Thank you.
Thank you, As you wrote, LFS does not use mechanism of initrd, but without initrd i have a kernel panic, because kernel is not able to mout my root system, can detect my /dev/sda3.
the disc is externe and attached by usb.
This night i've found a solution, using samples in the net,
After this line :
insmod usb-storage
I added sleep 5 to wait 5 sec
And next i use a mount command.
Thank you.

As I stated before: If you are building a LFS system you should use the kernel that comes with LFS. Using a kernel from another distro you will complicate things. You do not need initrd.
Have a good look at the kernel options (make menuconfig) and try to find out what settings are missing/incorrect (I'm assuming you use the LFS kernel).

If you are building LFS on an external disk, do make sure your bios is able to boot it. The LFS book does assume you build it on a partition on one of your internal harddisk(s).
