blfs /etc/skel permissions

What should the permissions be for the files in the etc/skel directory? Does useradd change the permissions and owner of the files it copies when u create a user with the -m switch? If not do they need to be set already?

Thanks,

I think that useradd only copies those files, so 664 permisions should be OK.

useradd copies the files to the users ~/ chowning to the user (and iirc the user's group). 664 will allow anyone in the user's group to change the user's defaults. Also anyone in group root can change the master files in /etc/skel . I'd go with 640 or 600 .
