Root Issue

Hello again,

I am running Suse Enterprise Server 9, and have encountered another problem, I am hoping will be an easy solution. I have MySQL running, and I need that for my phpBB forum. While logged in as root, everything works great, however when I log out and back in as a user (because I don't want to leave the machine logged in as root, obviously) the Bulletin Board will not work. I have to manually log in again as root, restart mysql, and then it works fine again, until I log out. Is there something I should change or be doing? Thanks as always for all the great help, I am learning a lot here.

You should have mysql running as mysql (or mysqld) from an init script. Most distributions provide for this.

It is, that's how I (right or wrong) restart it, but going into Services and restarting mysql. Doesn't help my problem tho.
