Question rhel 5.5 - samba password unix sync not working

hi, am trying to sync the unix users password with the samba users password through "passwd", the configuration is pretty simple but isn't working.

I have another machine with rhel3 with the same configuration and works ok.

I don't know if maybe exist another extra configuration for rhel5.5, i'm working recently with it.

in /etc/samba/smb.conf

encrypt passwords = yes
unix password sync = yes
security = user
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
passwd chat = *New*password* %n\n *Retype*new*password* %n\n *passwd:*all*authentication*tokens*updated*successfully*

in /etc/pam.d/syst-auth add

password required pam_smbpass.so nullok use_authtok try_first_pass

thanks for your time
