Unhappy multiple dev entries per drive

I apologize if I'm rehashing old issues, I just didn't know where else to go. I have several servers with lots of tasty RAID and Fiber Channel goodies, so I decided to get into a little multipathing, but something is not right. I'll use var as an example:

~]# blkid|grep var
/dev/sdb7: LABEL="/var" UUID="8e8a780f-24bc-4fff-8f84-ed22389b2fc1" SEC_TYPE="ext3" TYPE="ext2"
/dev/sda7: LABEL="/var" UUID="8e8a780f-24bc-4fff-8f84-ed22389b2fc1" SEC_TYPE="ext3" TYPE="ext2"
/dev/sde7: LABEL="/var" UUID="8e8a780f-24bc-4fff-8f84-ed22389b2fc1" SEC_TYPE="ext3" TYPE="ext2"

~]# lsmod|grep dm_
dm_round_robin 12353 0
dm_multipath 30033 1 dm_round_robin
dm_mirror 39369 0
dm_mod 81321 2 dm_multipath,dm_mirror

rpm -qa|grep device-mapper
device-mapper-multipath-0.4.5-31.el4
device-mapper-1.02.25-2.el4
device-mapper-1.02.25-2.el4

and finally:

~]# ls /dev/mapper/
control

Almost every time I boot I have to manually mount the drive with a little trial and error. What is up with that? I really need this to get solved so I can ignore these servers for a little while . Oh and by the way, I'm using RHEL4 so no fancy stuff ... can't seem to get fedora to pay the bills these days.

I would like to know more about the hardware and driver you are using. You may need to look into an RDAC driver.
