I want to apply kdb patch on my Linux kernel. I have RedhatEL4 installed in my system and the kernel version is 2.6.9-42. Can anyone tell me the correct kdb patch for this kernel version and the procedure to be followed after applying the patch?

Also, I need to know how i can enter in to kdb once kdb is activated.

I tried to apply some of the kdb patches that i got from oss.sgi.com but in vain .I heard that kdb patches in that site can be used only on vanilla kernels and not on distro kernels like redhat. is it true? If so, how can i proceed further?

According to the kdb README you need kdb-v4.4-2.6.9-common-2.bz2 AND kdb-v4.4-2.6.9-i386-1.bz2 OR kdb-v4.4-2.6.9-ia64-1.bz2 depending on your architecture.
If you have to apply the patch on a vanilla kernel, then you should d/l the one that matches your kernel (i.e. 2.6.9) from kernel.org
