fetchmail with interface option

Hi,

I am trying to use fetchmail over the ppp interface. I am using the interface option to poll my mail server. When I run fetchmail -v -c, it retrieves the mail anyways even if there is no ppp0 interface. I am not sure why it goes over the ethernet interface inspite of having specified the interface option. Can you please provide with any insight on this issue. I am running 2.4.21 kernel on Redhat linux ES 3.0. I have verified that I do not have IPV6 support configured.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The contents of my .fetchmailrc file are as follows
poll root via 160.48.9.28
protocol pop3
interface "ppp0/10.1.4.127/255.255.255.0"
user vish
password test

Thanks
Vish
