Hello,

I am trying to install RedHat AS 4.0 64-bit on an IBM xSeries 346 server.
The server is able to boot from the CD, When it ask for the installation mode i press ENTER, which means i will start the installation in Graphical mode.
Then i get the following error:

RAMDISK: compressed image found at block0
CRC error
VFS: cannot open root device "<NULL>" or unknown block (72,5)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel Paniic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown - block (72,5)

I would be thankfull if you can help me in solving this issue

Is this machine really 64 bit? Checking it using google mentions XEON processors. I might be wrong, but i think it's not 64 bit and that might be your problem
