Question How to compile the MVL4.0 device driver withMVL5.0?


Hi
I am new to linux device driver and i hv the working code of linux device driver(.ko) which runs on the MVL4.0 but i want to run in on the MVL5.0. i tried to compile it with the MVL5.0 kernel and tool chain but it give me the following error

error: linux/devfs_fs_kernel.h: No such file or directory

this file is already included in the one of the driver source file can any one tell me how can remove this error and if i commented out this file does my device driver will get the entry in dev fs???

Please help...

linux/devfs_fs_kernel.h : Removed five years ago.

"devfs" : Not something that is used any more. AFAIK.

More info : Just Google .. linux/devfs_fs_kernel.h ..

thank you knudfl for reply.
i hv commented out the linux/devfs_fs_kernel.h file.
but in my device driver source code "devfs_mk_cdev" and "devfs_remove" call is used. now i am getting the undefined warning messages.
can you tell me wht this two call actually do and how can i remove this warning msg ?

use udev/sysfs instead of devfs

as i am new to this linux device driver. can u help me to know how can i get the device driver entry at /dev/drivername ? using the /udev/sysfs ??
