Develop and running a SDL program for non-Xwindows platforms

I have written a SDL graphics program that runs on an Angstrom distrobution of Linux. It currently runs on X windows, but I would like to get rid of X and boot directly to the console and run the SDL program there.

There is no user input needed. Keyboard and mouse support is not needed. I just need to build a screen and blit it to the display.

Does anyone know if this can be done, and if so, how?

Thanks,
Rich

Hello,

Well simply have a look at how to compile SDL. You will quickly see that you can compile SDL without input support and with different kind of graphics backend like X11, DirectFB or FrameBuffer.
So assuming that your program only relies on SDL library, I mean no direct calls to some X11 libs, it should be ok with a simple recompilation/relink with your new lightweight SDL library (a SDL lib without X11 and input backends).

Regards,

Oliv'
