Debian perl runs very slow in arm based linux

i'm using

This is perl, v5.10.1 (*) built for arm-linux-gnueabi-thread-multi
(with 53 registered patches, see perl -V for more detail)

if i run a very basic cgi script only display a tiny page,
cpu hits 20%.
Same code in i386 pc has no problem at all.

if i run the same script back to back, cpu hits 40%.

Board is using Ateml a9.

Anyone knows how to improve it ?
