Why is there no forum for SuSE?????

I would like to see a Suse Forum,It would be useful as Suse users have to troubleshoot on just what people tell them or use the Forum as reference.It would save us a lot of headache if people have the knowledge why not grant others the ability to learn as well. Im a newbie but i am catching on fast due to the participation in this forum.

There's noting stopping anybody from asking a SuSE-realted question. Users can (and should) edit their profiles to reflect their distribution of choice. I'm not sure about other members but that's the forst place I look when someone's asking a question.

Notes taken on that one I think this board is a major asset to myself and the people that commit the time to answer the questions posted here. I would like to thank those people,they have created a huge troubleshooting message base here.

This thread is to discuss why we don't have a Suse forum on this site. What your doing is hijacking a thread and asking a question that has nothing to do with the thread itself which is against our rules.

If you have not already done so, start your own thread to ask this question. If you have already started a new thread, that means you double posted and is also against our rules.

You should have seen these when registering onto our site as you have to press <ok> to the rules to complete the registers.

But to tell you the truth about your question, what your asking really doesn't matter as what your asking is a screenshot of Suse but what you don't realize is all screenshots are the same as it depends on what app you want a screenshot of and what desktop or window manager is being used. There will be no difference in seeing a screenshot of lets say Redhat compared to Suse, as they are only distributions and don't make their own desktops per se.

Or, you could also go to the Suse website and look for a screenshot from there.

Hopefully now that Novell bought them, they'll be a little more accommodating.
My suse searches usually turn up German posts

Yes, I know you can download it for free and I got 8.2 downloaded
and installed fine from the web. However, we all know what
happened to Red Hats freebie trip... oh Red Hat Personal Edition
support go bye bye! Now your stuck with fedora (no support) or
$$$ Enterprise.

This is another good reason to buy and support your distro!
People don’t do this for charity, they need to make money.

I highly recommend SuSE for beginners like me, and advanced
users like my buds. Very stable, excellent hardware support
and a lot of nice GUI tweaks make this distribution a buyer in
my book.

btw, what is the new command in SuSE to replace rdate?

nm, found it under Yast in NTP client
very easy!!!

I guess SuSE changed to xntp or something.
From what I hear they dont use rdate.
For noobies like me, rdate and ntp is used to sync
your system clock to a more accurate server,
hopefully one synced with atomic clock.

I sync to a .gov server in my time zone.

I love SuSE!

Ok, went back to the store and exchanged SuSE 9.0 Personal for 9.0
Professional since I need Samba server support for file sharing on a home
network. The SuSE forums mentioned above has been down for a long
time, so we need a new place to talk about SuSE.

Does anyone know of another good site to talk about SuSE? forum?

I sent an email to SuSE respectfully asking them to join this wonderful community. I did forget one thing that might have helped. Maybe someone else can do it.

Send SuSE support a link to this particular thread so they can see for themselves how many people here use their fine distro. Might sway their decision a bit.

And to Jeremy, pay no heed to people complaining about the official nature of the distro forums. It is a good rule, as anyone who checks out the Fedora forum can tell from the useful answers givin by their people.

I've read the last three posts in this thread and all you post is assumption. It doesn't have a forum for the simple fact that they haven't got a mod yet. Sheeesh.

Even if Debian is more popular as you assume with no proof, there is a connectiva forum, so clearly the choice of distro forums is not based on popularity.

Errr, WHY?

Why not just make the forum then people can get the help they need in one place. This site is about getting help not getting an offical endorsement to aid in your sites hits.
