Which partitioning scheme works for you?

Im currently trying out a number of different distros, so far i have Slackware, Debian and linux from scratch, and i would like to know what partitioning schemes people use, as i want to share apps if its possible, my current scheme is this

hda windows (not mine, its a shared pc)

hdb1 Debian
hdb2 Slackware
hdb3 Lfs
hdb4 empty
hdb5 /home
hdb6 swap

i want to share apps between the three distros, but what do i need to add?
hdb4 is about 10 gig and i can make it into other partitions if i need to (using the space on hdb4)

Any help will be greatly appreciated

you could try having a /usr/local partition shared between the three distro's never tried this before so i cant guarantee that itll work
