Unhappy Which Linux is best for me ?

I am very interested in running Linux, it's just with all the different versions I don't have a clue which is right for me.

I do alot of audio and video production as I have a small recording studio. I am running currently Windows ME. My computer is a home built job with:

Pentium 4 2.0 ghz processor
1 ghz 2100 ddr ram
PcChips M930L Motherboard with:
SiS645 chipset
400 mhz frontside bus
SiS900 onboard lan port
onboard sound *disabled currently
5 pci slots
4x AGP slot
ATI Radeon 7200 VIVO AGP card
usb 2.0 pci card
1394 fire wire pci card
generic sound pci card
Alesis Adat Edit pci card
NEC Multisync XE21 monitor
Combo usb 2.0, 1394 firewire front 5.25" drive bay hub

I am connected to the internet through a ethernet hub to a computer running Windows XP with a 2-way Direcway Satellite internet connection.
I would like something easy to install to a dual boot system (I would like to keep my Windows ME for now.)
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the links guys. It looks like I am going to try a small partition and a couple different distributions over the next couple of weeks.
The big reason I am interested in Linux for a OS is I want to try my hand at programming also. This way I can tweak software to do what I want when I want.

Thank You
