Just wondering which linux you experienced people like the best. The only one i was ever able to install was redhat 9.1. but i hear mandrake and slackware are good also. Which do u guys use and which do you feel is best.
this question is like "which color is the best?".
anyway, mandrake is good for unexperienced and advanced users, slackware might be not so good for new linux users..
there are 100s os distros around..
Well, not that I can think of. Mandrake is based on RedHat, so you'd expect them to be quite similar. The Mandrake install was very smooth, but if you have a working RH that's no reason to change over.
I guess RedHat updates should be released earlier than Mandrake. If you have a look at the Distrowatch web pages, you'll be able to make a good comparison of the two.
core has the right idea -- which distro is "best" is a totally subjective call. The only way to figure out which one is "best" for you is to try a variety of them and see which you like the most. A great central place for a lot of the most popular distros is here: http://www.linuxiso.org/ Try a few and then you can decide for yourself which is best. -- J.W.
