What Are The Pro's & Cons Of Using Pardus Linux 2007.1?
I Was Thinking Of Using Pardus -kurulan Linux 2007.1 On A Amd 1300 Duron Whitebox System For Testing Different Linux Distro's. I Don't Know How Good Or Bad Pardus Linux Can Be Since They Started Around 2005. I Also Want To Check Out Pclinuxos 2007.
In general, I would expect that--as you go lower on the "hit list" at Distrowatch--there will be fewer people that can help with the inevitable glitches. (Pardus is #50--but rising)
This said, it will not cost you anything to try it. For what it's worth, PCLOS 2007 is not released yet. RC-2, I think...
Thanks For Your Reply. On Ebay I Picked Up A Pclinuxos 2007 Cd- Test 2 version.I checked out pclinuxos 2007 and it looks very good with more plug ins than suse.
I use Pardus 2007.1 and it's running great so far. For help at this time I would come to this site or the KDE forums. There is a Dutch forum with a large english section you can also try(http://worldforum.pardus-linux.nl/index.php). They do have an IRC channel but unless you speak turkish it probably won't do you much good. PCLOS 2007, on the other hand, runs awefully slow on my PC (P4 2.8Gz, 2.5 Gb ram, 80 gb HD, ATI 9550). Obviously they still have some work to do with 2007 but that's expected as it is basically a total rewrite from 0.93.
Lastly, I've always been a GNOME user and Pardus is the only distribution that has made KDE fun for me to use. Can't be too bad then. Give it a try.
I am rebuilting a amd 950 thunderbird, 768mb of pc-133 sdram, 80gb hd. and install this pardus linux. my opensuse machine is down,so I used pcbsd 1.33 and this a rock solid operating system so far. thanks for your reply. can I use pardus on a amd 550 with 512mb of pc-100 sdram? I know need a floppy disk to boot and can"t boot from cd-rom. maybe just give it to a friend.
