hey guys 'n' gurls....
im running gentoo 2004.2
ive a Nvidia GForce-4 440 MX grapics card, which is fully installed and working with the lastest .61xx driver from nvidia.com (i didnt use the emerge since its insanely out of date)
anyways, all the games ive installed via emerge dont seem to work in full screen mode. whenever i try to switch, i get the message

VID: Mode 320x200 can't go fullscreen.
ohh and the 320x200 part is not anyhing to do with it, i get an error no-matter what resolution i start off at.
in my console.
what should i do to rectify this ?
the qames this is effecting is quakeforge and tenebrae.
both worked fine under redhat 9, slackware, and knoppix... but not gentoo.
so im assuming this is a distro specific problem ? has nayone else had a program like this with 'vidmode' ?
if it turns out not to be distro specific, ill ask a mod to move this to the gameing thread.
