two small mandrake 9.1 problems

One problem is that it when I hit the logout button in KDE, sometimes it just asks me if I want to "logout" and other times the picture of a little dragon comes up and I'm giving the option to restart the comp, shut down, or log out. I want the second screen on a consistent basis, instead of randomlly getting one or the other of those logouts.

Second problem is at the login screen where I'm given the option to pick a login name, restart or halt. When I select restart sometimes the menu is completely blank while other times it has my bootloader options such as "linux, windows, failsafe, floppy" Any ideas on how I can get that menu each time? Seems weird that it isn't consistent. Thank you for your time.
