system freezes when I navigate to /mnt

When I try to navigate to /mnt my system freezes. Only if I use the shell or go directly to a subdirectory (for example /mnt/hd). Does this afflict anyone else? I'm thinking that Mandrake is scanning for devices and just gets stuck.

I saw a thread in justlinux.com stating the same problem you have .I think Mandrake should have a fix for that by now.

Can you give me the link for the thread? Are you just guessing mandrake has a fix for it or do you know for a fact?
