Can someone confirm that the kernel source files are NOT included anywhere on the 3 CDs supplied with SuSE 8.1 Personal distro? I can't seem to find them at all.
I need to compile a Broadcom NIC driver - hence no net access from my Linux box yet. I know about the kernel.org and the SuSE ftp site/mirrors but I wanted to make sure I don't already have them on CD first.
Snocked:
I see lots of other source packages on the 3rd CD, but nothing that looks like the kernel source - which one is it? And how do I load it with YasT2?
start yast, select install/remove software, select 'search' from the filter box, type 'kernel' in the search box,(easier than trying to find it from the package list) click search, put a checkmark next to kernel-sources, click accept.
Thanks - but I have done this many times. Searches for "kernel" or "sources" or "kernel-sources" finds nothing. I looked on the 3rd CD where all the other *.src.rpm packages are and there are none with kernel in the name. I have a feeling that the kernel sources are not provided on SuSE 8.1 Personal release, perhaps only on the Professional release?

but that packeage doesn't contain the kernel source files - just the kernel itself - right? I'm looking for the kernel source files in order to do some compiling.
Yast2>Install or remove software>Advanced development>kernel-source........the technical data says it is on media #2.......location is: 5 kernel-source-2.4.19.SuSE-49.nosrc.rpm
I don't have the Advanced Development choice in Yast2 - I guess it's not available in the Personal release - makes sence if they don't provide the kernel sources.
