I just installed red hat linux beta software . downloaded star office to run word processor and spread sheet programs but being new to linux I don't know how to install the software. The file is in my home directory, I thought it might have a self installer but no luck. Please help. also is there another browser I can use instead of Konqueror. Any and all help will be appreciated

Pertaining your first question it must be .bin file just from the shell (Open an Konsole/Xterm) run
chmod 755 starofficefilename.bin
sh starofficefilename.bin
or
./starofficefilename.bin
it should start installer
Note substitiute starofficefilename with actual name, but first locate the file :
ls command allows you to browse contents of a directory
cd dirname changes to directory dirname.
P.S. Forgot about second question - the following web browsers have good reputation in linux - mozilla, netscape, galeon, opera, text based lynx, skipstone, and others.
