Question Reinstalled Mandrake 8.2 now super slow......

I did a full reinstallation of Mandrake 8.2 last night. I used the same two HD partitions that I had my initial installation on after wiping them. I did the non-expert installation and added some software to the installation list that didn't get installed the first time around (OpenOffice, for example). Everything seemed to install just fine. My problem is that everything is slow as molasses in January now. Loading Mandrake takes +/- 3 minutes. Starting OpenOffice Writer takes a full minute. My HD isn't thrashing, though... it just takes forever to do things. Any ideas?

Well, what kind of system is it and what are you using (KDE/Gnome/etc)? Try posting some of the contents of doing a dmesg.

The problem isn't my hardware. Mandrake ran great with my last installation. I'm running KDE 2.2.2, by the way.

Celeron 566@850
Abit BX6 Rev 2.0 motherboard
256MB Crucial PC133
Western Digital 30GB HD
Sony 8x4x32 CDRW
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz
ATI Radeon 64MB DDR Retail
Hewlett Packard 722C
Visioneer 8100 scanner
US Robotics V.Everything External 56k modem

Everything was detected and installed fine. No hiccups. Everything just runs like I'm using a 486.
