Question RedHat Install Goes Black

Ok, I just got RedHat 9 ISO's and I am trying to install them on a machine that is currently running RH 8.0.

I have the machine start from CD and RH 9 Disc one is in the drive. Everything looks fine and I am prompted to hit <Enter> to run the RH installer in graphical mode or type "xxx" to run the RH installer in text mode.

Here's where the trouble comes in. Right when I hit enter or type in the command to run it in text mode, the screen scrolls through some finding hardware and then goes black. This happens on the graphical install or the text based one.

Do you think this is a problem with my monitor not be recognized? Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Sorry for the ignorance, but how do I go about using the test feature? The screen goes black right after I select which type of install to do (text or graphical).

install problem

actually the test thing would be next but its not making it that far. i dont know if there is any other way of testing them. you might want to boot another computer with them to see if its the cds or that box.

Ok - I tested the Discs on a different computer and they are fine. The install got a lot farther and I was able to test the media which the test said was a Pass.

Any idea why the screen would go black?

I had RH8 running fine, and it is still running fine, so why would I be having what appears to be a video card related issue?? Anyone?
