Mouse sensitivity in SuSE 9.1 - Where do i adjust it?
Where do i adjust mouse sensitivity in SuSE 9.1? It's too high! I can't find anything in Control Center -> Peripherals -> Mouse - only settings to adjust acceleration, threshold, clicking and draging. Acceleration is already at lowest, and threshold at highest, still the mouse is on turbo, and moves way too fast!
It's a USB mouse, but i also have a PS/2 connected (+ one more USB - all three have same sensitivity). They worked fine during installation of SuSE, but when i booted the first time, the sensitivity was at least doubled.
Like you I had a couple of issues when first using SuSE 9.1 and mouse speed was one of them!
I use an M$ optical wheel mouse, and it was way too sensitive. Here's where I changed the settings:
KDE Control Centre - Peripherals - Mouse - Advanced Tab. There you'll find the pointer accelaeration. I set it to 1x speed which is manageable - still faster than XP - but then isn't everything!
If after changing the settings in the Control Centre you still have a super fast mouse, I would suggest going into YAST and reconfiguring your mouse in the Hardware - Mouse module.
Editing the resolution in XF86config does nothing for me either. My mouse is logitech MX700.
My solution:
//home/user/.kde/share/config/kcminputrc is where the KDE mouse setup is stored for the acceleration. The GUI wont let you set it bellow 1.0, but if you manualy edit the file you can I set mine to .6
After youve changed it set the files permission to read only, that way you can still use the GUI to change other mouse settings, they are saved in a different file.
Restart KDE and your lower mouse speed should work.
I have the same problem. I have installed Suse 9.1 pro on an inspiron 4150 - which has two built in mice.
When I plug in my optical usb no-brander wheel mouse, it's too fast.
The double-click is too fast as well. When I want to open an app from kicker, 3 spring into life.
I subscribe to the notion that the built in mice are 'amplifying' the speed. I've tried to disable the onboard mice, different mice and the suggestions above to no avail.
With my former distro, Mandrake 10, the usb mouse would drop out occasionally, which I can live with.
Anyway, I will try a few other things and get back to you all with a solution (I hope).
