to load kwrite or any other graphical software first you have to have x window system running if you have .xinitrc file just add it like this in that file
exec kwrite &
or if you have .Xclients-default add the same thing this will start them after starting xwindow
I have a related question.
By adding stuff in .xinitrc, I can get it to run at start-up. But what if I want to have it in the exact state as it was when I killed X? If it's a Gnome application, gnome probably takes care of this by saving the context, but how do I do it with mozilla. All I could do was set (in Mozilla preferences) the start-up page to the last open page, but that only gives me one page, not all the open windows/tabs that I had open. The more I write, the more I realize this is a Mozilla question. Oh well...
