kernel probs with redhat 8.0

Hi,
I now tried to recompile a new kernel several times, but it allways got stuck somehow. One time it was during make dep, another time during make bzImage and another time during make modules.

I reinstalled redhat 3 times and it was always the same result, also with the 2.4.19 Kernel it didn't work. Has someone any idea? Under 7.2 i compiled 2.4.18 and also 2.4.19 without any probs.

I used both my old config files and also the default files in /usr/src/linux-2.4/configs.

I had a similar problem. I got around it with a make distclean and make mrproper then configure the kernel with make xconfig. I think it something they left in the rpm package that causing the problems. I also don't recommend using the old config file.
