Hello to everyone, and this is my first post.
I prefer Mandriva, as one of few distribution which (as yet?) still uses rpm, instead of debian. But this problem drives me really crazy, and I might switch to kubuntu after all
Every time after I log off, something weird happens. Typically the system freezes, and doesn't accept anything apart from Ctrl+Alt+Del, after which it goes to reboot.
While it is frozen, I can see a blank screen with text cursor, therefore I assume that it happens after finishing X-session, but before login screen takes over. It might be an application running in between which causes the upset, but I don't know where to look for.
The problem happens only when I use a manufacturer driver for my video card: fglrx (ATI Radeon X1300). With vesa and avivo everything is OK, but only fglrx supports graphic acceleration. Also it works OK with fglrx when I use XDM as display manager.
I installed a fglrx version, and recompiled the kernel to ensure that the fglrx_ko fits in, and I certainly use a new version of libGM (from /usr/lib/fglrx), but it has become even worse.
Any help? You will really make my day ...
