I just don't know

Well I have no idea what distro to get, I've only used MDK I was ok with 9.2 but just wasn't enough for me and after using 10 I was totally put off of this distro.

I've read alot on forums and heard alot of advice, really I don't want anything too hard since I'm still kinda new. I use this as a desktop, so good hardware compatibilty is important, I don't know if the setup is long etc I know I can get through it. I want something stable it seems I had alot of problems with MDK 10 and KDE 2.3 KDE is my choice I like the look and have gotten use to the feel. Any suggestions would be greatfull. thx

This question is asked daily. Try using the LinuxQuestions search (button at the top of page) or just browse through this Distributions forum.

http://www.distrowatch.com
has many reviews and information

Everyone can give their opinion but there are numerous distros that people like here. So look at them and choose what *you* like.

Edit:
BTW, welcome to LQ

Well.. personally I like Debian. You may not like the install but it gives you the power over it. Meaning you get to make choices and answer questions and do it your way. Another distro I like is Slackware. Installation for me was a breeze. If you do choose Slackware afterwards install swaret for package management.

No matter what you choose, you can always get help at LQ for the installation and beyond.

Dude - as darthtux indicated, the "what distro should I use" question gets asked every 5 minutes, and everybody says the same thing about how the available reviews just aren't applicable to their specific situation.

The answer is to try a variety of distros, and decide *for yourself* which one best suits your needs and preferences. Discussions about which distro is "best" are 100% subjective, and what may work really well for me may be terrible for you, or vice versa. Try out several of the most popular, and then make and educated decision. In addition to distrowatch you might also want to check out www.linuxiso.org -- J.W.
