check your routes with route, you should have something like
224.0.0.0 * 240.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 wlan0
otherwise check your ifup script in /etc/network/interfaces for a up command
up route add -net 224.0.0.0 netmask 240.0.0.0 wlan0
down route del -net 224.0.0.0 netmask 240.0.0.0
