How to create an Ubuntu-based distro?

Hey there, I'm going to have to do a school project, and I've chosen it to be a Linux distro specific for my school.

My goal is to have a distro with a custom name, logo, pre-made users and programs/packages. I want it to have software that will be useful for both students and teachers.

I've seen this, but I haven't read it through completely and I'm not sure that's enough info for the goals in my project.

Any help is appreciated, even though I have some Linux experience and like it, I haven't done anything like this before so I'm kinda lost...

Also, if you think there's any other idea/s that I should have for my project, feel free to mention them as that would help me even further.

It is, apart from the "custom logo" stuff. I suggest you read it completely, practice a few builds and then ask specific questions. It's a good way for you to learn and efficient for all of us.

I've thought of doing that, but I've wondered how much time it might take me to do it... How much time should it take?

Kind of depends on your reading skills, general knowledge of Linux and of the distro you'll use and how much time you (realistically) planned for it. OTOH the longer you wait finding out the longer it'll take :-]
