firefox 0.9.3 in suse 9.1

Hi

I downloaded firefox 0.9.3, and untarred it using tar-xvf. I then executed the firefox installer which proceeded to give me windows style installation setup wizard. I went through it told it to install firefox in /usr/local/firefox (so that all users can use it). So the directory was created and a load of files placed in it. The problem now is I dont know how to get firefox up and running...surfing the web. I would also like to include it as an icon in the desktop panel thing? These are the files it dumped in /usr/local/firefox:

local/firefox> ls
chrome install.log libsoftokn3.chk registry
components libmozjs.so libsoftokn3.so res
components.ini libnspr4.so libssl3.so run-mozilla.sh
defaults libnss3.so libxpcom_compat.so searchplugins
extensions libnssckbi.so libxpcom.so xpicleanup
firefox libplc4.so libxpistub.so
firefox-bin libplds4.so mozilla-xremote-client
greprefs libsmime3.so plugins

Can anyone help me get it up and working and the icon in the desktop panel?

thanks
dan

to run, just execute /usr/local/firefox/firefox
or ./firefox if your already in that directory.

that's also where you'll point the link when you create a desktop icon.

Thanks

Now i need to add a quick launch icon in the taskbar (as well as part of the start menu) and make it so that it can started by simply typing firefox at a prompt at any directory (aliasing?). Can anyone help on this?

cheers

if you want to just type 'firefox' without the full path, just put a sym link in a directory that is in your $PATH. some place like /usr/local/bin.

ln -s /usr/local/firefox/firefox /usr/local/bin/firefox

Then you will be able to just type 'firefox' no matter which directory your in.

Open koqueror and browse to the firefox binary file. Once there, drag the binary to the desktop. Release it, a menu will appear. Choose "link here". There you are, the icon.
To add a K menu entry, open the menu editor. Right click the K icon and choose Menu Editor.
