Ok, I feel pretty dumb asking this question but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I have installed Mandrake 8.2 and would like to use it as a file and print server. I was using 8.1 and was able to go into the Mandrake Control Center under the servers icon to setup Samba and printer sharing. I don't have that option in 8.2 although the tutorial on disc1 shows the server configuration icon. Does anyone know what I need to do to get this icon in 8.2? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for your reply. I thought since my question was specific to Mandrake 8.2 it should go in the distributions forum. Oh well, maybe not. I did find the answer to my problem in the Mandrake forum. Seems that even though I loaded all the server packages during installation it did not load the wizards. I had to go into Software Manager, search for "wizards", pick and install the Samba wizard. Then the server icon appeared in the Mandrake Control Center and I was able to configure Samba. Another problem I ran into was in 8.1 after the Samba setup I was able to go directly to Hardware/Printers in the Control Center to add and configure my network printer which is on an HP jetdirect. 8.2 would not allow me to do that. Unless I am totally doing something wrong I had to configure a CUPS server 1st then go into CUPS administration to add and configure the printer. It sure was a lot easier in 8.1. Anybody have any thoughts on this?
