Fedora Core 5 Install on SATA mirror

Building a new system : AMD Athalon 64 with a pair of 200GB SATA drives mirrored. Installing the x86 distro.

Get through package selection and the system takes off to start formatting the partitions then hangs half way through formatting the "/" partition.

I set up the prtitions w/ 500M for /boot, 50G for /, 2G swap, the remainder (150G) for /home.

ran through the install a couple times and just sits about half way through formatting /.

Any ideas?
