If U installed a second kernel the option might appear (if you did a make install) in the lilo boot menu.
Is possible that you have edited the /etc/lilo.conf file directly or through a tool in X, and that ran the lilo command (no change is done until lilo is ran).

if you don't remember you probably are login as root or as a user with root rights (very easy to give one such rights in RH 9).

DO NOT LOG AS ROOT IN AN USUAL MANNER.
Use the root account only in special situations - configuration is needed or even better use su, make your configuration things and exit su.

Did you upgrade your system lately (using Up2Date) ?

If you upgraded your system, than a new kernel was installed.

Does one option say Red Hat Linux (2.4.20-19.9) and the other Red Hat Linux (kernel-2.4.20-8).
Or something like that ?

Lightbulb System Updated

Well someone did ... < play scary music here >

Click on the menu, go to System Tools and click on Terminal.
A terminal window will open.

To make sure that the kernels are installed, type:
Code:
rpm -qa | grep kernel
Two kernels should appear (kernel-2.4.20-19.9 and kernel-2.4.20-8).

If you want to remove the old one (kernel-2.4.20-8), type the following commands.
You will need to enter your root password for this to work.
Code:
su -
rpm -e kernel-2.4.20-8

Isn't there an automatic update tool in RH?

I think there is!
Somebody say if that's not true!
And RH starts to look and feel more and more like Win XP

Up2Date will warn you when new RPMs are available,
but it will not automatically update the system.

At least I hope not...
