Hi, i tried to install various distros (slack 13, fedora 11, opensuse, pcbsd, arch) and all of them would boot up from the dvd discs but when it comes to installing and actually mounting the iso file from the dvd disc, it just doesn't find the dvd-rom. The only distro that install fine is ubuntu :| What might be the problem?
thanks in advance.
I'm not sure I understand. Do the distros boot into a live session? If so, then they have loaded the ISO and you can't use that drive while the your running off the disc. The live sessions usually have Install options on the desktop. Or some have the install option right from the GRUB boot menu.
When your in a live distro sometimes it doesn't read the optical drive correctly (because its using it). At least that's been my experience.

No, i didn't boot the live session. They properly booted up to the config screens/partitioning, but when it comes to installing they just say they cant find the cd-rom.
