Distro under 32MB

I have a HP T5300 Thin Client with I was thinking of turning into a network media player, using mpd and djmount. The thing is that this damn device only has 32MB of flash for the OS. Does anyone know a linux distro that is under 32MB? It should be without all the bells and wisels, pure console based.

Any suggestions?

I second Tinycore too

If you only add like dillo2, OSS stereo, XFE with xfw
and some small depends maybe 22mb?
that's with a desktop too dude,
mine , the dragon themes , is a 65mb with alot of stuff
but the eye candy is just the wallpaper
and editing/making themes
http://multidistro.com/tinycore-shots/tc-scrnshots.html

I can hook you up with -32mb
maybe even get opera+flash10 too
so, if'n you want me to make an iso real quick, cause sub 32mb aint nothing to upload

Check out SliTaz too.
Its claims "SliTaz is an open source and free operating system providing a fully featured desktop or server in less than 30 Mb. SliTaz is simple to use, fast and stable".

Perhaps I should had said that I have almost tried every small linux distro know to mankind.

Slitaz was a bit to big. After installing mpd, lighttpd and php it used about 36 megs.

Tinycore well it's damn small but I could figure out how this things save settings or how to compile applications for it.

Since the machine only has 64MB of RAM and it supposed to run embedded, I don't see the point of wasting resources on a desktop.

I could buy a CF to IDE adapter and use my 1GB CF card to install something like Voyage Linux, but I'm to eager to wait another weak when they ship the adapter to me. Perhaps I should buy the adapter...

OK, then you could use microcore, starts at 7mb, no desktop
console only
you can add alot of non-x stuff to0
gcc, whatever, lots of compiling, remastering apps

here's microcore tce/tcz repository
( ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/metalab/distr...corelinux/2.x/ )

as I said, it's easy to make the iso, and
saving the settings is automatically done with bootcodes on grub menu.lst or syslinux.cfg, etc
like "restore=sda1 tce=sda1 home=sda1 opt=sda1 waitusb=5(only for usb) noicons superuser(textmode as root) max_loop=255(can mount 255 tcz's, up to)"

and also, you wanna use core_elements+microcore+tcz's
tcz'a are mounted, tce's go into ram, so tcz's use less ram

so, very easy to make and I can hook you up, you play it and it's yours
doesn't work
throw it away

it's worth a try
there isn't any other small distro that I know of, that has as much compiling, and good apps.

tinycore is new DSL, works almost same way

Using microcore/tinycore where would I store html/php files if I install lighttpd?

How good is the wireless support in microcore? I have a dlink dwl-g122...

Does slitaz work with apt-get+debian packages, I think I read it somewhere but I could be wrong...

Not sure about slitaz...

tinycore has lots of stuff for server stuff and wireless too
did you look in the tce/tcz repository link I gave you above?

Go to tinycore forum and use the search feature
with keywords like wireless
lttpd
etc
