Try running pavucontrol (pulseaudio mixer) - I think default is now HDMI.

Thank you. I'll try it when I boot Devuan. Do I really need pavucontrol / pulseaudio ? There is no word about pavucontrol or alsamixer in https://files.devuan.org/devuan_daed...ease_notes.txt

I usually install from the 'live' XFCE, it comes in that....& I use HDMI monitors, which work with sound straight away.
